Surgery, Neurology and Cardiology

Surgery

Musculoskeletal biomechanics. Development of diagnostic and surgical methods especially knee joint diseases as cruciate rupture and patella luxation.

Neurology

The research focuses of the Danish Veterinary Neurology Group include:

  • Degenerative and inflammatory mechanisms in neurological diseases
  • Spontaneous stroke, dementia and chronic pain in dogs and their potential as clinical models for human disease
  • Epilepsy in dogs; natural course and genetic aspects
  • Detection of biomarkers in blood and spinal fluid for neurological disease

Cardiology

Inherited and acquired heart diseases. Spontaneous clinical models for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with a focus on sarcomeropathy and mitochondrial function. Development of blood and imaging bases diagnostic markers for heart diseases. Clinical research on heart worm infection in dogs.
